Bengt Eriksson

When I returned to India in 2007, we didn’t have an office here. Charlie Wrench (our CEO at that time) gave me the opportunity to set-up Landor in India, reporting to Bengt Eriksson who was running MENA and Turkey.

You can imagine the range of decisions to be taken in the early years of establishing operations: finding office space, hiring talented team members, acquiring clients and growing the business. Having Bengt as my boss made it feel easy! He has a wonderfully empowering style which helped me forge ahead fearlessly. Bengt gives all credit and takes all blame. How many bosses are secure enough to do that?

It motivated me tremendously as it made me feel like I was driving the engine. Yet, Bengt was always there to guide, protect and handle any missteps (and there were several!). I am sure that Idil who runs L&F Turkey and Mariagrazia who runs L&F Middle East would agree as they too greatly benefited from Bengt’s mentorship to them in their careers.

As Landor & Fitch India enters its next phase of growth, the guiding principle I will be closely following is Bengt’s mantra to give credit and take blame.

Have you benefitted from an enlightened and empowering boss like Bengt? I'd love to hear your story!
